The process of admissions to the technical school is as follows:
Every year by August the new candidates buy the application form in the campus of the school.
The candidates must present an interview before they are accepted to make the exam.
The candidates that are approved to do their exam, must be in the school in the correct date.
The list of candidates that approved the exam and were accepted, is published in the campus of the school.
The accepted candidates must inscribe their names as regular students of Don Bosco.
The Interviews
It consists in a persona interview with the administration of the school:
The objective is select the candidates of the most unprivileged backgrounds.
Candidates from middle or high class are not eligible to present the exam to Don Bosco.
Candidates from orphanages, rural areas, sent by NGOs or officials with recommendation letters establishing the real need of the candidate and evident poor youth, are priority in the school.
Young people which family has the possibility to support superior education for them, are not eligible in the school.
Candidates must have at least the 9th grade finished to be eligible.
Candidates should not be younger than 16 and older than 25 years old.
Candidates should not be already engaged in weddings or married or with children. They must be single young men.
Candidates that try to hide their social background, give fake documents or attempt corrupt practices, are not eligible.
Candidates that are already studying in a technical institute or university, are not eligible.
The administration reserves its right of admission of any person.
Candidates must present the admission form, the family record, the school certificates and identities in order to proceed for interviews.
Interviews are in Khmer language.
The candidate must come to the interview with an adult that is responsible of him, preferable parents, step family or, in the case of orphans, the guardians.
The exam
The exam consist in a test to make a new selection of candidates. There is a limit in the number of candidates to join the school every year. In Sihanoukville it is about 250 students for all the sections.
In Don Bosco there is not practices like selling exams or buying the answers. The privacy of the test is strictly confidential. Any irregularity in the behavior of any candidate trying to get personal advantage, is a reason to suspend the exam of that particularly person.
The list of candidates that are approved to join the school is published in the campus. After the registration, it is often that some candidates do not come. Free places are filled with candidates that did not approved but have a good score.
