Celebrating Khmer New Year 2025 at Don Bosco Technical School Sihanoukville

Today, Don Bosco Technical School Sihanoukville joyfully celebrated Khmer New Year with students, teachers, volunteers, past pupils, and local donors. Around 200 people came together to embrace tradition, express gratitude, and strengthen bonds as a community. The event was filled with cultural pride, featuring traditional dances and popular Khmer games such as Chol Chhoung (a game involving a rolled krama), Veay Korm, and Teagn Prot (Tug of War), among others.

The celebration was enriched by an inspiring message from Fr. Arun Charles Michaels, SDB, who emphasized that Khmer New Year is not just about festivities but also a time for reflection, gratitude, and renewal. He encouraged students to honor their roots, appreciate their teachers and elders, and embrace the new year as an opportunity for growth, learning, and unity. His words resonated deeply, reminding everyone of the importance of kindness, respect, and a strong community spirit.

This celebration is a testament to Don Bosco’s commitment to preserving Cambodian culture and traditions, while also fostering a strong sense of community. Through such events, the school not only educates students academically but also instills cultural awareness, respect for traditions, and the values of harmony and togetherness.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who contribute to the mission of Don Bosco Technical School Sihanoukville—our teachers, staff, volunteers, past pupils, and generous donors. Your support helps uphold our shared values and ensures that our students grow into responsible, compassionate individuals who cherish their heritage.

May this new year bring prosperity, joy, and continued success to all!
