Celebrating Khmer New Year 2025 at Don Bosco Technical School Sihanoukville

Today, Don Bosco Technical School Sihanoukville joyfully celebrated Khmer New Year with students, teachers, volunteers, past pupils, and local donors. Around 200 people came together to embrace tradition, express gratitude, and strengthen bonds as a community. The event was filled with cultural pride, featuring traditional dances and popular Khmer games such as Chol Chhoung (a game involving a rolled krama), Veay Korm, and Teagn Prot (Tug of War), among others.

The celebration was enriched by an inspiring message from Fr. Arun Charles Michaels, SDB, who emphasized that Khmer New Year is not just about festivities but also a time for reflection, gratitude, and renewal. He encouraged students to honor their roots, appreciate their teachers and elders, and embrace the new year as an opportunity for growth, learning, and unity. His words resonated deeply, reminding everyone of the importance of kindness, respect, and a strong community spirit.

This celebration is a testament to Don Bosco’s commitment to preserving Cambodian culture and traditions, while also fostering a strong sense of community. Through such events, the school not only educates students academically but also instills cultural awareness, respect for traditions, and the values of harmony and togetherness.

Celebrating the Beauty and Strength of Women at Don Bosco Sihanoukville

On March 8, Don Bosco Technical School Sihanoukville joyfully celebrated International Women’s Day, bringing together all female teachers, staff, and students in a heartfelt tribute to the essence of womanhood. This special gathering, held from 4:30 PM to 10:00 PM, was an opportunity to honor the invaluable contributions of women in our school, society, and the world at large.

The event was not just a celebration but also a reflection on the deep values embodied by women—beauty, gentleness, care, love, and harmony. It was a day to embrace the true meaning of femininity and recognize the powerful role that women play in shaping families, communities, and future generations.

Throughout the evening, participants engaged in meaningful discussions about women’s health, the significance of Women’s Day, and the challenges and triumphs of women throughout history. A short film showcasing inspiring stories of women was screened, sparking reflection and appreciation for the resilience and contributions of women worldwide.

The celebration continued with a series of joyful activities, including fun games that strengthened bonds, a warm round fire where stories and laughter were shared, and a communal dinner that brought everyone closer together. Music and dancing added to the spirit of joy and unity, allowing participants to express themselves freely and celebrate the beauty of being a woman.

One of the most special aspects of the event was the opportunity for all women to spend the night together, creating an atmosphere of family, solidarity, and mutual support. This moment reinforced the importance of unity among women and the power of sisterhood in uplifting one another.

At Don Bosco Sihanoukville, we believe that Women’s Day is not just about recognizing achievements but also about celebrating the feminine spirit that brings love, compassion, and balance to the world. In reality, it is not just a Women’s Day—it is a true Feminine’s Day, a time to honor the grace, strength, and nurturing essence that women bring to society.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the women who make a difference every day. May this celebration remind us of the beauty of femininity and inspire us to continue empowering and supporting one another.

Welcoming Happy Chandara High School to Don Bosco Technical School Sihanoukville

On February 26, 2025, Don Bosco Technical School Sihanoukville had the pleasure of hosting a visit from Happy Chandara High School. A group of around 80 students and teachers spent half a day exploring our facilities, engaging with our staff, and learning about the technical training programs offered at our school.

This visit served as an excellent opportunity for the visiting students to gain a deeper understanding of the practical skills training available at Don Bosco Sihanoukville. Through guided tours and hands-on demonstrations, they were able to experience how our associate degree programs prepare young people for careers in hospitality, electricity, automotive technology, mechanical-welding, and secretarial work. These programs aim to provide underprivileged youth with valuable technical expertise and professional opportunities.

In addition to the school tour, the visit was filled with fun and friendship. Female students from both schools enjoyed a friendly volleyball match, fostering positive interaction and teamwork between our students and guests. The visitors also had a chance to taste delicious homemade ice cream prepared by our hospitality students, giving them a sweet sample of the practical skills being developed in our training programs.

We are delighted to see the interest and curiosity shown by the students of Happy Chandara High School, and we appreciate their teachers for encouraging this exploration of vocational education. Visits like this foster greater awareness about technical education pathways and help build stronger links between educational institutions dedicated to preparing young people for successful futures.

Don Bosco Technical School Sihanoukville warmly welcomes future visits from high schools across the region. We believe that strengthening partnerships and encouraging collaborative initiatives in education will ensure more students have access to quality technical training, opening doors to brighter prospects ahead.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Happy Chandara High School for their visit and look forward to future opportunities for collaboration.
